I read that quickly and thought it was Michael Hutchence's rope trick, and was thinking: uhhhh... no.

What amazed me the most with the rope trick was just how many times in a row he could do it without ONCE messing it up.

That takes practise!

Michael Hutchings is also a 7-ball juggler by the way.

As long as we're listing Stupid Mathematician Tricks, I'd like to mention that Bjorn Poonen (UC Berkeley) can whistle with his mouth closed. It's much more disturbing than you'd think.
